I was asked to take some images at a Fairtrade Fashion Show at my university.

Plymouth City Centre
Lumberjack shirts are really popular in the UK. They're everywhere.
There was a protest in the centre this morning and into the afternoon - it was on an eco-based issue.

My Worst Critic
I am much more comfortable taking photos without people in. When I went out last weekend to my local shopping precinct, every person I approached to take their photo shuffled away as fast as they could. Very rarely will a beautiful piece of scenery scuttle off before I can capture it. I had my spiel ready - explaining I was a photographer, that I liked their clothes and wanted to take a photo. But if I even looked at someone they would hurry away. Another thing that I found very awkward was the fact that most of the well dressed people there were mothers with young children. So, I ended up calling it a day and going home photoless after an hour of trying.
I might try and go out with a friend next time so I don't look quite so... weird.

Rain stops play...
I would have taken a photo in the shopping precinct this lunch time but the weather was a bit touch and go, so I'm putting it off. Tomorrow may be more productive. Thanks for bearing with me.
I'm undecided on whether I prefer digital or film because I like them for different reasons. I think that film is more sentimental. I used to buy single use film cameras when I was at school for fun. I prefer the digital for speed of photo sharing. I hadn't used a film camera for 3 or more years before doing my third year class at uni. But I will be using only my film SLR whilst away in America for a year. I am going to start using it a lot more now as well so I can get more adept at using it.
I don't use my film SLR very often. I have a Panasonic Lumix GH1 digital SLR and also the Miranda that you see in this photo.

Right, I will attempting again tomorrow with the fashion photo.

Introductions...
Hey there.
My name is Hazel and I enjoy photography. I will be using this blog to post some fashion shots. I love travelling as well - so this will include photos from different towns and cities. I hope that you get something from them. Constructive contributions and comments are very much welcomed.
I'll be uploading an image this weekend from my own little suburb, Plymstock, in Plymouth UK.
